Valerie Adams Assisted Living Manager
Valerie Lybarger-Adams comes to SunnyBrook with more than 20 years experience in elder care, beginning with time spent as a teenage volunteer in the geriatric wing of the local hospital. While in college she worked as a nurse’s aide and later as a social worker in a nursing home for many years. Continuing her work at several area nursing homes, she served as a social work consultant. After obtaining her nursing home administrator’s license, she gained additional experience in the assisted living environment and as manager for several skilled nursing facilities. Valerie looks forward to getting to know the residents and working with the great team at SunnyBrook.
Valerie and husband Tony live in rural southeast Iowa near New London with their four children, ages 14 years to 18 months. In her leisure time, she enjoys family camping trips, playing cards, playing with her children, and attending their sporting and scouting events.
Jamie Scherer Health Care Coordinator
Jamie Scherer joins our SunnyBrook family with over 15 years experience in the health care field. She began her career as a phlebotomist at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. Following her graduation from nursing school, she worked in acute care at Jefferson County Hospital. Before coming to SunnyBrook, she was employed at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City in orthopedic and urology specialties. Jamie is dedicated to patient care and feels that she is compassionate in the work she does. She enjoys her work and looks forward to caring for the needs of SunnyBrook residents.
A native of Batavia, Jamie and her husband J.R. have a daughter Jessica who attends IHCC and a son Jake who is a sophomore at Iowa Wesleyan College. She’s looking forward to her son’s college athletic career in either football or baseball. In her spare time, Jamie enjoys being outdoors at any sporting event.
