Betty and David Howell founded SunnyBrook in 1995 to fulfill their vision of bringing the best possible care to the seniors of their home town in Iowa. As SunnyBrook became known for its beautiful building, caring professional staff, home-like atmosphere, great food and vibrant social and activities calendar, Betty and David were able to expand their dream to other communities in Iowa.

In order to reach more Iowans with the unique SunnyBrook experience, David and Betty formed SunnyBrook Management Company, headquartered in Fairfield, to implement Betty's standards and philosophy of care. The Howells are proud to serve Iowa’s great seniors and to offer the best in senior care.

Increasing needs within the community led to the vision of expanding SunnyBrook to embrace those needs. SunnyBrook Assisted Living in Fairfield, Iowa opened its doors in February 2003 and  then  SunnyBrook Mt. Pleasant  opened in February 2005. These communities offer quality care that works with the residents and their families to provide a wide range of services consistent with the individuals needs and preferences. Involving the resident in all choices within a residential home-like setting, while providing comfort, services and social amenities  is our top priority.

Assisted living has come a long way since the inception. It is not just for a senior that requests assistance with daily living tasks, it is also for the senior who is looking for a simpler lifestyle, increased social options, interactions, and the benefits of someone else doing the cooking, cleaning, and home maintenance.

SunnyBrook Assisted Living is proud to announce the addition of several new communities to the family. SunnyBrook has opened its doors to the community in  Ft. Madison, Burlington, Carroll and  Muscatine. Each community offers a specialized Dementia/Alzheimer’s Garden Living area within each community.
